Storage That Belongs in the Room
Built-in cupboards are storage solutions designed and constructed to fit directly into the existing architecture of your home. Unlike freestanding furniture, they span floor to ceiling and wall to wall — using every available inch of space and looking like a permanent, intentional part of the room.
We build cupboards for hallways, utility rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, landing areas, and any other space where storage is needed but freestanding furniture doesn't work. Common projects include hallway cloakroom cupboards, utility room storage, dining room display units, and bedroom storage that complements fitted wardrobes.
Each cupboard is individually designed during a home consultation, manufactured in our workshop, and installed by our own team. The goal is storage that solves a specific problem while looking like it was designed with the house.
The Problem with Freestanding Storage
Freestanding cupboards and storage units come in standard sizes. Your hallway, utility room, or landing doesn't. The result is furniture that leaves gaps, blocks doors, or simply doesn't fit the available space. You end up with a room that feels like furniture was pushed into it rather than designed for it.
Freestanding pieces also can't integrate with room features. Skirting boards, architraves, pipes, and sockets create obstacles that standard furniture sits in front of rather than working around. The visual impact is a room that looks furnished but not designed.
Built-in cupboards eliminate these issues entirely. They're designed around the room's exact dimensions and features, creating storage that appears to be part of the original architecture.

Cupboard Types, Materials & Configurations
We build several types of built-in cupboard depending on the room and function. Hallway cloakroom cupboards typically feature hanging rails at two heights (adult and child), a shelf for hats and gloves, shoe storage at the base, and a mirror on the inside of one door. Utility room cupboards are configured for cleaning equipment, ironing boards, laundry baskets, and household supplies.
Dining room cupboards often combine closed storage at the base with glazed display shelving above — ideal for tableware, glassware, and decorative items. Landing and corridor cupboards tend to focus on maximising storage depth while keeping doors that don't obstruct the walkway.
Materials include high-quality FINSA Hidrofugo premium grade MDF for carcasses, with painted, melamine, or veneered door finishes. We match existing paintwork and can replicate period door panel styles for older properties. Hardware options include traditional knob handles, bar handles, concealed push-to-open mechanisms, and soft-close hinges.
For Newcastle's prevalent terraced properties, we're experienced with the typical hallway widths, alcove dimensions, and under-stairs configurations that these homes present. We've built storage solutions for hundreds of similar spaces across Heaton, Jesmond, Gosforth, and the wider city.
How Much Do Built-In Cupboards Cost in Newcastle?
Built-in cupboard costs depend on the size of the unit, the materials used, and the complexity of the internal configuration. We provide clear, itemised quotes after measuring your space.
A single built-in cupboard with standard shelving typically starts from £800 to £1,500. Multi-unit installations for hallways or utility rooms generally range from £2,000 to £4,000. Larger or more complex designs with premium finishes and extensive internal fittings can cost £5,000 or more.
All quotes include design, materials, manufacture, and installation — no hidden extras.
